Jaylen Arnold

Problem Background

At the age of 2 years old, young Jaylen began to experience the symptoms of Tourettes. This is a disorder where people will make unwanted sounds without being able to control it. He was officially diagnosed with it at 3 years old. Then at the age of 8 years old he was then diagnosed with another disorder, Asperger’s Disorder. This is when you have serious trouble with social interaction and nonverbal communication. Because of these disorders people bullied him by giving him names like the alphabet kid because in his official documents his name was Jaylen Arnold, TS, OCD, ASP.

Solution Background

After multiple months of bullying he had an idea, he would take his experiences and use them to help and educate people about the respect people deserve and what bullying says about that respect. He would hope to eventually take his knowledge and stream on youtube, podcasts you name it. This would lead to him creating a foundation, Jaylen’s Challenge. This particular foundation is a charitable foundation that he hopes will help raise awareness of bullying and through education and community service.

Connections

This problem is what Tech For Good students are trying to do: take a problem and solve it through technology. Granted this is a much larger scale problem but the hope is that a student in our class will become a changemaker in the future.
