Problem Background

Colored girls around the world didn’t have enough books to read. Marley Dias wanted girls around the world to be able to read books whenever they wanted to.

Solution Background

Marley launched the #1000BlackGirlBooks drive in November of 2015.She wanted colored girls to read about colored women to show what they could do. Marley has collected over 13,000 books to date. She made it possible so black girls could read and have the option to have a book.

Connections

This connects with Tech for Good because Marley saw a problem, thought of a solution and found a way to make that solution come to the real world. She helped make it possible for thousands of people to read a book.
